BBQ Gift Basket

A Chimney Starter is useful two ways: it will be your fire starter, AND, it serves as a container to fill with BBQ rubs, spices, tongs, smoking woods and marinades. The ultimate Grilling/BBQ gift for the outdoor cook in your life.

Scott and I recently went to a lovely wedding in the GA mountains. The setting was quaint and rustic and they got married in a little mountain chapel deep in the heart of the woods.

For their wedding gift, we sent them a grill. I know, isn’t that what you might expect from GrillGrrrl and hubby? Because they didn’t register anywhere, we didnt want to get them something too random and we figured Heck, everyone needs a grill to start off a life together!! So we got them a really cute Green Weber Kettle Grill. I didn’t even know they came in green- love it!

We didn’t haul this grill all the way to Georgia. We shipped it of course. We couldn’t show up empty handed to the wedding so I made them a “BBQ Gift Basket”. Instead of using an actual basket, I used a chimney starter which any new charcoal grill owner will need. Consider this a “Grilling Starter Kit” complete with fire starting paraffin cubes, cedar planks, BBQ rubs, artisanal spices, sauces, tongs and even various woods for smoking. I even got the chimney started through security at the airport!

The bride and groom with their families.

The idea here is to be creative as only you will know what your friends tastes are. But I see their being many uses here: “Housewaring gifts, Father’s Day Presents, a chimney starter stocking for the BBQ/Grilling in your life.

Let me know what makes it into your BBQ gift basket! Heck, maybe this will catch on. If you would like a custom BBQ gift basket, email me and we’ll make it happen. robyn.medlin@gmail.com

I’ll wager and say this is one of

the more unique gifts the bride and groom received.

What a great idea for a gift. And I can’t believe you got this through security.

What a great idea, too cute. If I REALLY liked the person, I’d see about slipping a Thermapen in there.
