Heres a pic of my coleslaw before entering it at Memphis in May. I guess the cat's out of the bag on what recipe I used.
Coleslaw is the ultimate side dish for BBQ, burgers, hotdogs, you name it. When I walk into a BBQ restaurant, I always order the slaw and judge accordingly. In my humble opinion, bad slaw will kill my review of an otherwise good restaurant. I hate an overly saturated slaw where the cabbage is literally swimming in mayo. The perfect slaw needs to achieve the right balance- c
reamy but not overly so. This recipe is great because it has a nice balance of citrus and mayo, which lightens it up and complements anything from BBQ to even fish tacos.
Thanks to my Mom and Dad for sharing this recipe as they are truly coleslaw connoisseurs! I switched lemon juice for lime juice as LIME is my ultimate favorite ingredient!

This sounds great and will diffidently try it soon. I feel the same about slaw. If available I always order it. Never heard of Dukes’s, will look for it.
Hi Robyn,
Like you, I tend to judge restaurants by their side dishes, such as coleslaw and also whether they make their own vinaigrette for salads. (Not fond of the bottled stuff.) I love the lime component you’ve used in your slaw. It must give it a nice fresh taste.
My husband and I are looking forward to meeting you at the blogger get-together at Almost Heaven South in a couple of weeks. See you there.

Thanks for the comment. As a Carolina girl myself, I look forward to meeting you all! We are going to have a blast!
Funny, we just converted to Duke’s this month. I love it.
I’ll be trying this slaw for my next batch of pulled pork.
I’ve been looking for a healthy coleslaw recipe. This looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Let me know how you like it! I always add the mayo/lime mixture at the last minute so if I can do more with less, I will!
